INTERNATIONAL AND EUROPEAN STANDARDISATION INFLUENCED BY NORMAPME

Seminars and trainings

NORMAPME's aim by organising seminars in the main countries of Europe is to inform and render visible European standardisation and to sensibilise on the needs of SMEs in this process.

So far, the main content of the seminars is the explanation of the European Standardisation System:

Explain how SME organisations can participate with the help of NORMAPME in the European standardisation process and eventually influence the content of new standards. Examples of important ongoing standard drafting serve to illustrate the essence of the work and the relevance to SMEs.
Provide training to SMEs and their associations in all Member States in order to raise awareness on standardisation and to improve their participation in the development of standards, and
Advocate European SMEs' cause in standardisation wherever it is relevant and possible (inside and outside Europe).

Other more detailed technical aspects of standardisation are presented according to the specific interest of the audience.

With upcoming seminars NORMAPME will try to reach the few Members States omitted so far and prepare SMEs of candidate countries whose NSBs are already strongly involved in CEN/ CENELEC activities for its active role in standardization on the European and international level.

In addition, NORMAPME and its Board feel the need to extend its efforts and provide some training to SME experts who are directly involved in the standardisation process. Stronger emphasis will be given to the explanation of standardisation process, finding and accessing standards in home country and CEN database, as well as using the patent database of the European Patent Office.
